Todays sports and arts industries are highly competitive. And with a society that celebrates productivity over health and recovery, athletes are being over trained and artists are competing against machine production. This mindset is actually affecting artist's and athlete's performances, since the bodies don't get enough rest and fuel, as well as their minds.
Practising your discipline from a space of passion, compassion and love is what differentiates athletes and artists in these industries. Being human. Take the example from the US Olympic skating team, who have warmed everyone's hearts by showing reclaiming the joy and love for the art that had been taken away from them.
And this is what we stand for at Moving Waves and the standard we hold our classes to, from our Dance and Drama classes in our North London Academies to each After-School club we run across the city. These sessions are designed to teach students skills and for them to improve in their practice in a process-based approach that prioritises creativity and connection. Whether is ballet for a 3-year old child, or a dynamic Commercial class for teenagers, we lead our classes with joy, passion and without comparing to anyone else but oneself.
