What sessions can Moving Waves run in my nursery?
We offer a range of weekly sessions for nurseries: dance, music, drama, yoga, storytelling, and arts & crafts. Dance covers ballet, hip-hop and creative movement. Music uses songs, games and hands-on instruments. Yoga introduces simple stretches, breathing and relaxation. You can book one subject or build a weekly programme across several. What age groups are your nursery sessions suitable for?
Our nursery sessions are designed for children aged 2 to 5. Facilitators adapt every activity to the age and stage of the room, so a session for 2-year-olds looks very different from one for children getting ready for Reception.
How long is a nursery session?
Most nursery sessions run for 30 to 45 minutes, which we believe suits children of this age group, but we are happy to work to your schedule. We can split a longer booking into back-to-back sessions so every room gets a turn.
How do your sessions support the EYFS?
Every session links to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) areas of learning. Dance and yoga build Physical Development. Music, drama and storytelling support Communication and Language. All sessions feed Expressive Arts and Design and Personal, Social and Emotional Development, as children take turns, share and express feelings.
Are your sessions inclusive for children with SEND or EAL?
Yes. Every child is welcome, whatever their background or ability. Our sessions rely on movement, music, gesture and play, so children with additional needs or English as an additional language can take part fully. Tell us about any needs before the first session and we'll adapt the plan.
Can you run one-off or themed workshops?
Yes. As well as weekly sessions, we run one-off themed workshops for special days, celebrations and topic weeks. Ask us about a workshop built around your current theme.
Which London nurseries do you work with?
We work with nurseries in every London borough and postcode. We bring the session to you, so families don't need to travel.
When can nursery sessions take place?
Sessions can run at any time of the nursery day: morning, afternoon, or as part of wraparound care. We fit around your routine, including nap and meal times.
How do I book sessions for my nursery?
Email info@movingwaves.org or call us on 0207 602 2870. Tell us your preferred day, time, age groups and subjects. We'll agree a timetable with you and can send a flyer to share with parents.
What space and equipment do you need?
A clear room or hall is all we need. We provide props and art materials. If you are looking for Yoga or Music sessions, we would need to borrow mats or instruments, depending on the session plan.
How much do nursery sessions cost?
Nursery sessions cost from £65 + VAT per session, and £70 + VAT for arts & crafts. Nurseries booking three or more weekly sessions receive a discount.
Who pays: the nursery or parents?
Either. Most nurseries include the sessions in their fees so every child takes part. Some prefer parents to pay as an optional extra, and we can handle sign-ups and payments for you. We'll find the option that suits your setting.
Who leads the sessions?
Every session is led by a specialist: trained dancers, musicians, drama practitioners and storytellers with experience teaching young children. They bring real expertise into the room, which is what makes the sessions different from in-house activities. Find out more about the benefits of an external provider.
How do you handle safeguarding?
All our facilitators hold enhanced DBS checks and have experience working with young children. We follow your nursery's safeguarding policy, and your staff stay in the room to maintain ratios. We hold public and employers' liability insurance and can send certificates and policies before the first session.
