At Moving Waves, we believe dance is about so much more than just learning steps. For children as young as four, it’s a wonderful way to build confidence, make friends, find their creative voice, and discover the joy of moving.
Confidence and self-expression: Dancing helps children feel comfortable in their own skin. Every class is an opportunity to gain agency and awareness of movement through trying new moves and learning new skills, perform in front of others, and celebrate small achievements in a low-pressure and encouraging environment.
Social skills: Before, during, and after class students are surrounded by peers and friends. Classes are designed to encourage these connections through teamwork, partner exercises and group routines where they learn to be part of a group. Students quickly learn to share space, support each other and celebrate each other's progress.
Physical development: With a playful process-based method that encourages trial and error, dancers develop skills such as balance, coordination and strength. Moreover, our specialised instructors train the students technique and skills that will make them better dancers.
Creativity: Children are given the space to express themselves in ways they sometimes can't through words. Moreover, they are given the opportunity to create and show their work.
With a student-centred approach that focuses on the learning journey, our teachers create a welcoming, encouraging environment for the young dancers to feel supported and safe to try without fear of mistakes. For many of our little dancers, walking into their first class is a big step. But week by week, we see them grow in their confidence, skill and presence.
If you’re looking for a confidence-boosting activity for your child, why not give dance a try? In our three North-London-based locations, our classes are open to children age 4 and above, with fun, age-appropriate lessons designed to bring out the best in every dancer.
